I have been wary of golden milk for a long time. I’ve seen it portrayed as a cozy, delicious drink, but to me all I could imagine was the taste of turmeric, which is not cozy and sweet to me. However, with the right recipe, it really IS so yummy! ALL THREE of my young children and husband have agreed it is tasty.
Health Benefits of this Cozy Drink
A treat can be an easy way to get more nutrition. Here, you’re drinking calcium from the plant milk, which most of us need more of. You’re also getting immune-boosting properties from the turmeric and ginger, and the adaptogenic affects of lower stress and anxiety. These spices are proven to lower inflammation as well, and even lower blood pressure.
This is all for less than 100 calories per cup, if you’re using almond milk! You can use any milk you like. I use almond milk. A swirl of coconut milk makes it even creamier.
Let’s Make it Easy with a Mix
When you want a warm cup of this nutritious drink, you don’t always want to measure every spice, but you want it to turn out well every time. It’s handy to make a mix! I have the mix recipe and the single-cup recipe below.
If you’d like to gift these handy little mixes, I made printable tags you can use. Put the mix into a little jar with a ribbon, or in a bag tucked inside a mug with a frother or whisk for a really nice gift with a homemade touch.
Print tags here (they’re free).
Let me know in the comments what you think of this golden milk drink! Mix up your hot chocolate/coffee/tea routine and see what you think! If you find the spices overpowering, just add more sweetener until you get more used to it.
