Between allergies, sugar overload, and classroom rules, a lot of parents are looking for non-candy Valentine ideas for kids’ classes that are still fun and meaningful.

The good news? Kids don’t need sugar to have fun. Simple, thoughtful gifts can go a long way—and often last longer than a piece of chocolate anyway.

Gone are the days of passing out boxes of chalky conversation hearts. Here are 10 easy, non-candy Valentine ideas that work great for school classrooms, church groups, and homeschool co-ops.

Non-Candy Valentine Ideas for Kids

My FAVORITE Valentine to Make for Kids Classes (with FREE PRINTABLE!)

You are one package of balloons and 10 minutes away from checking class Valentines off your list!

This is my go-to Valentine that we make every year for my kids preschool parties, homeschool groups, etc. They are dirt cheap, kids love balloons, and it’s not candy. It’s a perfect last-minute Valentine that you don’t need to order anything for!

I go to the dollar store and buy a bag of 20 balloons for $1.25. I print these Valentines Cards that I designed (free for you!) and use a razor blade or scissors to make two cuts to create a slit to put the balloon into (or have your child just tape the balloon on). Have them write the their name on each one, and you’re done!

Click here to print the valentines. There is a colored page, and a black and white version if you want to hand-color them yourself.

A Simple (and Sweet) Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean candy overload to be special. These non-candy Valentine ideas for kids are simple, affordable, and focused on connection—not sugar crashes.

Whether you’re a parent prepping for a classroom party or a teacher looking for inclusive ideas, a little thought goes a long way in helping kids feel loved.

And honestly? That’s what Valentine’s Day is really about anyway. ❤️
