Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip for Fruit (WFPB, Vegan, Low-Fat, High Protein)

Keep this on hand and you’ll LOVE eating an apple a day! This high-protein, low-fat, low-sugar peanut butter yogurt dip for apple slices is so easy, addicting, and kid-friendly!

I try to make a dip for apples at least once a week. When there’s a bowl of something dippable, that drawer of apples disappears (well, honestly it disappears no matter what at my house….I spend a small fortune on apples each week with a household of six). This one is craveable. Even though it’s only three simple ingredients, low in fat, low in added sugar, and high in protein, it’s one I reach for.

What Ingredients you Need for Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip

Yogurt

You can use any plain yogurt you want. I bet you could even blend up cottage cheese (if you eat that) with the other ingredients and it would be divine. I use my homemade soy milk yogurt. For this, you defintely want to strain the excess liquid so your dip is thick enough. I do this by lining a colandar with a couple layers of good-quality paper towels. Let the yogurt sit there for even just an hour and it will be thick enough. Sitting it over a bowl and putting it in the fridge overnight to strain is even better.

Usually I don’t strain my yogurt because it decreases the volume so much. I just use it thin over granola, etc. However, in this case you’ll want to remove at least some of the extra liquid, or buy Greek yogurt.

Powdered Peanut Butter

You can use regular peanut butter here (it’s delicious!), or powdered peanut butter to decrease the fat and calories overall by quite a bit. It just depends on your needs. I love using powdered peanut butter kind of as my protein powder. There aren’t many protein powders I like…..but I love powdered peanut butter! I add to it smoothies and yogurt mostly. You can find powdered peanut butter at almost any grocery store. The main brands are PBFit and PB2.

You can use almond butter here if you prefer, too.

Maple Syrup

Use any sweetener you want here. I usually use maple syrup or honey but you can use anything you love! You don’t need much.

What to Dunk into this Dip

We mostly use apple slices in this dip, but honestly it takes self control to not just eat it all with a spoon (which wouldn’t be an unhealthy choice by any means, it just wouldn’t stretch as far).

Pear slices, banana chunks, strawberries, and graham crackers are other delicious dippers.

I have more dip recipes where this came from!

I have my round-up of our favorite recipes here: Six Healthy Dips for Apples Besides Peanut Butter.  There are really simple and really yummy recipes here. The one I make most is probably the Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dip because it is SO quick and easy and so universally loved. Everytime I eat it I am re-surprised how delicious it is.
